Forget the welfare state, give us nukes and more nukes!

The very obliging Barbara Green, a well-known Calderdale leftie, wrote to the Hebden Bridge Times last week asking the candidates where we all stand on Trident.  Barbara  and I know each other, so she already knows my answer. I seized the opportunity to put the Green case to the wider Calderdale public, and the resulting letter is reproduced on the right.

How depressing is it that the national media is presenting this election as a two-horse race? According to them, the choice is between the privatising warmongers and the warmongering privatisers- yee ha! Fortunately, the polls suggest that the voters know differently. My biggest hope for the next month is that we, and I mean all of us, can get across the message that we want more than just the Labour/Tories. We want a multi-party democracy, we want to be able to vote against the Trident-lovers, and we want a voting system that reflects our pluralistic society!

How cold is my valley?

Who I am

This blog started during the months before the 2010 General Election, in which I was the Green candidate for Calder Valley. It's morphed into an account of green activism...and other meanderings.
