Real Reasons Not To Vote Tory

My letter to the Halifax Courier was published the other day and will be linked (r) soon. Predictably, my refusal to make cheap party political points out of the plight of vulnerable kids has drawn the fury of one particular clique.

So, as a little object lesson, here are some real reason not to vote Tory:

  • They plan to privatise even more of the NHS than Labour has.
  • They want to run local councils on the lines of budget airlines (can you imagine?)
  • They say they will cut public services, in opposition to what economists and governments are doing everywhere in the world.
  • Until very recently they were among the biggest fans of those lovely bankers, spluttering on their champagne at the thought of ‘regulation’
  • They are bankrolled by a shady ‘Lord’ who refuses to pay UK tax.
  • They are allied with the hard right group in the European Parliament.
  • They make noises about ‘Broken Britain’ but their plans to address deprivation simply involve more cuts and privatisation.
  • They made a complete and utter horlicks of it last time they were in government!

How cold is my valley?

Who I am

This blog started during the months before the 2010 General Election, in which I was the Green candidate for Calder Valley. It's morphed into an account of green activism...and other meanderings.
